Osseo and the Evening Star
A calm, child-friendly retelling with light choices and a warm ending.
Opening Chapter
Long ago, a young woman named Oweenee loved the open air. She listened to wind in the pines and watched the clouds change shape. She admired what was kind, even when it looked plain.
Oweenee chose to marry Osseo, an older man with a gentle heart and a simple walking staff. He spoke softly and cared for people on the path. Some people laughed, but Oweenee said, "Kind hearts age well."
Above their village, the Evening Star was known as a kind light in the sky, a quiet watcher on the night road.
One day her family was invited to a feast. Oweenee and Osseo set out on the path together. Above them, the Evening Star shone brighter than usual.
