The Tortoise and the Hare
A gentle, child-friendly retelling with short pages and simple choices.
Opening Chapter
In a sunny meadow, a hare loved to boast. He was very fast and he liked to show off. "I am the fastest runner here," he said, hopping from rock to rock.
A quiet tortoise listened. He was slower, but he was steady and kind. "Maybe," the tortoise replied, "but I can keep going, step by step."
The hare laughed. "Let us race and see!" he said.
The animals marked a finish line under a wide oak tree. The breeze smelled like clover and warm grass.
