The Cartographers Compass
A slow-burn romantasy of rival cartographers mapping a living territory that reads their emotions.
"What happens when the territory you're mapping maps you back?"
Opening Chapter
The Expanse is visible before you reach base camp. That is the first wrong thing.
You have studied every survey report filed in the last century — fourteen attempts, all failures, all describing the territory as beginning at a defined boundary line four miles east of the Crown's staging ground. The boundary is marked on the official map with a red dashed line and the notation Anomalous Terrain: Do Not Enter Without Commission. You have the commission. You have the instruments. You have eight weeks. What you did not expect is to see the territory breathing from two miles away.
