Opening Chapter
### Chapter 1: An Unusual Request
Under the golden afternoon sun, the Hardy home stood as a testament to simpler times, its white picket fence bordering a lush, green lawn where the laughter of children once filled the air. Inside, the Hardy boys, Frank and Joe, found themselves embroiled in a mystery even before it had properly begun. The day had unfolded like any other, with chores and plans for a leisurely afternoon, until the postman delivered a letter that would alter the course of their day.
The envelope was peculiar, lacking both a return address and the usual postage stamp. Instead, a wax seal, imprinted with the outline of an old mill, held the flap securely in place. Frank, the elder of the two brothers by a year and naturally more cautious, carefully broke the seal while Joe, ever the more impulsive, leaned in eagerly.
